Effect of water deficit on water status and growth of five tropical species used in urban forestry

Due to the urban environment trees must deal with drier and hotter than in rural areas. Knowing water consumption of each species indicators deficit is useful decide frequency volume irrigation select according microclimate location. To determine approximately identify physiological variables that indicate stress, it was carried out an experiment which five tropical (Citharexylum montanum M., Citharexylum sulcatum Caesalpinia spinosa K., Inga edulis M. Retrophyllum rospigliosii P.) were subjected deficit. After a month planting, eight per four treatments: control treatment (volumetric content higher 45% (TC)), volumetric 20% (VM20), fifteen thirty days after soil had reached VM20 (T15 T30, respectively). In similar height, found descending order I. edulis, C. montanum, spinosa, sulcatum, R. best indicator stem potential. general, moisture suitable threshold when irrigating regardless species. Deeming effect treatments on growth assessed species, T30 diminished severely by 50% comparison control, except for there no significant differences.
